Zoom! Teeth Whitening is a professional, in-office teeth whitening that can whiten teeth up to 8 shades lighter in just one hour!

How does Zoom! Teeth Whitening work?

Dr. Jeremy jorgenson - costa mesa dentist - teeth whitening costa mesa - teeth whitening special - cosmetic dentist - cosmetic dentistry - best cosmetic dentist near me - teeth whitening options - in-office teeth whitening - zoom teeth whitening - ultradent teeth whitening - epic laser teeth whitening - take-home bleaching trays - best dentist ocZoom! is a proven professional teeth whitening system.  The whitening system is an in-office procedure performed by a trained dental assistant.

A prescription strength hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel with pH booster is applied to your teeth andbreaks down stain forming molecules on tooth enamel.  This process is accelerated by Philips Whitespeed Blue LED Lamp.  The intensity of the lamp can be adjusted depending on desired results and risk of sensitivity.

The procedure is performed in 15-minutes sessions and up to 4 sessions can be completed.  Discuss the best option for you during your consultation with Dr. Jorgenson.

Preparing for your Zoom! Teeth Whitening Appointment

Zoom! Teeth Whitening works by breaking down stains on the teeth.  This process can cause sensitivity that is often described as “zingers”. You’ll want to be sure to have a consultation with Dr. Jorgenson to ensure Zoom! is appropriate for you.

If you’re concerned about sensitivity, start prepping about two weeks prior to your appointment.  Use a toothpaste with potassium nitrate such as Sensodyne.  The toothpaste will help to temporarily block pain signals triggered by the bleaching gel.

You can also take up to 800mg of ibuprofen about one hour prior to your appointment.

Because the process is designed to remove stains from the enamel, plaque and tarter should be removed prior to the procedure.  If teeth are covered by plaque and tartar, the whitening gel must fight through this hard substances before getting to the enamel.  Therefore, you’ll want to make sure teeth are clean.

We highly recommend a dental exam and cleaning to remove plaque and tartar for best results.  You can schedule your dental cleaning at our Costa Mesa dental office anytime by calling (714) 424-9099 or visit us at www.mycostamesadentist.com.

Caring for your Smile after Zoom! Teeth Whitening

After you achieve amazing results, you’ll want to be sure to avoid tooth-staining foods, drinks, and lifestyle choices to maintain that dazzling smile.  Items to avoid:

  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Red Wine
  • Foods with color additives
  • Tomato-based products
  • Tobacco

If sensitivity persists, apply your Relief ACP gel to relieve sensitivity and to help remineralize the teeth.

More importantly, you can maintain excellent oral health by visiting your dentist as prescribed and keep up good at-home brushing and flossing habits.

Advanced Dental Care is a full-service dental office in Costa Mesa, CA conveniently located by the 405, 55, and 73.  For questions or to schedule an appointment, please call/text (714) 424-9099 or visit us online at .

How do I know if I have a cavity?

Cavity treatment in Costa Mesa

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), tooth decay is the second most prevalent health condition in the U.S. after the common cold.  If you’ve never had a cavity, great work!  However, it’s very likely that at some point in your life you will develop at least one.

How will you know if you have a cavity? Just because you aren’t experiencing any pain doesn’t mean everything is fine and dandy.  You could have active decay that is in the early stages and may be able to be reversed with professional dental care.  Tooth decay exhibits a variety of symptoms depending on the severity of your tooth decay.

Symptoms of a Cavity

best dentist costa mesa - emergency dentist costa mesa - cosmetic dentist costa mesa - dental implants costa mesa - dentist near me - dentist open now - saturday dentist - ppo dentist - delta dental - teeth whitening - dental veneers - laser dentistry - invisalign - tooth pain - cavity - dental crown - root canal - toothache - staining

• Nothing (best time to catch decay in the early stages)
• Continuous or spontaneous tooth pain
• Tooth sensitivity
• Pain (dull or sharp) when eating something sweet, hot, or cold
• Visible staining on the surface of your tooth which may appear brown, black, or white
• Visible holes in your tooth (the holes are likely cavities)
• Pain when chewing or biting your teeth down together

What to do if you have a cavity?

best dentist costa mesa - emergency dentist costa mesa - cosmetic dentist costa mesa - dental implants costa mesa - dentist near me - dentist open now - saturday dentist - ppo dentist - delta dental - teeth whitening - dental veneers - laser dentistry - invisalign - tooth pain - cavity - dental crown - root canal - toothache - staining

A quick exam at our Costa Mesa dental office will let you know the best course of treatment for your particular situation. The recommendation could be as simple as a “watch” with recommendations for home care to fluoride treatment.

If the decay is more pervasive or you are experiencing any of the symptoms above, Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson may recommend treatment for the cavity.  Treatment options could include a composite (tooth-colored) filling for moderate decay.  If the decay is covering many surfaces of the tooth or has affected deeper layers of the tooth a dental crown may be recommended.

How to prevent a cavity?

You can help prevent the damaging effects of plaque and tartar at home by brushing twice a day with a soft bristled toothbrush, using a toothpaste with fluoride, and flossing at least once a day.  Additional preventative measures include eating a well-balanced diet, rinsing after meals if you can’t brush, and asking your dentist about fluoride treatment.  Most importantly, seeing your dentist at regularly prescribed visits can determine if the above measures are effective for you.

Importance of Routine Dental Visits

Obviously, the best time to catch a cavity would be in the early stages, when there are few, if any, symptoms (trust us on this one).

That’s why the American Dental Association (ADA) and dental professionals stress the importance of maintaining regular visits to your dentist.  Although we are always here when you need us, we don’t want to get into the habit of only seeing you when you are in pain!

At each visit to our office, we will continue to evaluate whether we need to see you every 3, 4 or 6 months in order to ensure you are maintaining good oral hygiene.

You can always schedule an appointment by calling/texting us at   (714) 424-9099, by email at info@mycostamesadentist.com, or by clicking “Book An Appointment“.

FREE Dental Exams & X-rays for Veterans

November 3, 2018

FREE DENTAL EXAMS AND X-RAYS

50% OFF TREATMENT*

Monday, November 12, 2018  10:00 am – 7:00 pm

Tuesday, November 13, 2018 9:00am – 5:00pm

Thank you for your service!

Honoring our heroes is important to us, but too often America’s veterans return home only to face more battles.  Obtaining medical and dental care for veterans shouldn’t be one of them.  That’s why Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson and the Advanced Dental Care team are giving back this Veteran’s Day by offering free dental exams and x-rays for veterans.  In addition, any dental treatment needed will be provided at 50% off.

Dental Care for Veterans

Welcome to our office

At Advanced Dental Care, your comfort and satisfaction is our number one priority.  We do our best to prepare for your appointment before you arrive.  On your first visit to our Costa Mesa dental office, you’ll quickly check-in in our private registration room before making yourself at home.  We offer blankets, pillows, aromatherapy, music, DirectTV, internet and more to help you feel as relaxed as possible.  You’ll meet our dental team and discuss any concerns about the health or appearance of your smile.  Once we know about anything that is bothering you, we will get started with your dental exam.

The dental exam

Your dental assistant will start by taking a few digital x-rays.  Digital x-rays  are important in providing dental care for veterans, because they provide diagnostic images that may not be visible to the eye.  Your dental assistant may also take intraoral photos or a 3D scan using our iTero digital scanner.  Next you’ll meet Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson, owner/dentist of Advanced Dental Care.  After Dr. Jorgenson’s comprehensive exam, he’ll discuss any areas of concern using the digital images taken earlier in the appointment.

Treatment planning

Dr. Jorgenson’s treatment philosophy is to identify why your dental condition might be occurring and recommend the most conservative approach to treating the condition.  A condition may have multiple treatment options and only you and Dr. Jorgenson can choose the treatment option that is best for you.  We strongly encourage patients to take an active role in their treatment to ensure the best outcomes.  You are encouraged to ask as many questions as you want. Dr. Jorgenson will then work with our treatment coordinator, Angeliki, to prepare a custom treatment plan for you.

Making dental care possible

We always work with our patients to ensure they can receive the dental care they need, but on Monday, November 9th dental care for veterans will be offered for 50% off our standard fees.  We can also make financial arrangements to further assist with treatment investments.  This includes in-office or third-party payment plans including up to 18 months with 0% interest**!

Back-to-School – Smile Smart Tips

Smile Smart Tips for Success!

Going back-to-school is bittersweet for both parents and students.  No one wants summer to end, but students enjoy going back to school to see their friends again, getting back into school sports, and moving one step closer to graduation!

Even though going back-to-school is an exciting time, students can experience anxiety.  Anxiety can interfere with sleep, wellness, and performance.  But don’t worry!  We’ve compiled some smile smart tips to help you smoothly transition back into the school year.

Smile Smart Tip # 1

Of course our first tip is to complete your dental exam and x-rays, and cleaning, before school starts.  These services are often covered at 100% by dental insurance.  Nothing can distract students more than throbbing, achy tooth pain that requires an emergency dental visit. Make sure your dental health is an A+ for academic success!

Smile Smart Tip # 2

Our second tip is to get enough sleep.  The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends:

  • 9-12 hours for school-age children
  • 8-10 hours for teens
  • 7 or more hours for adults

Not getting restful sleep?  Schedule a consultation for Sleep Apnea or Bruxism.  A custom sleep device to treat sleep apnea can improve sleep quality and reduce chances for heart disease or stroke.  A custom nightguard to prevent grinding that can cause poor sleep, headaches, and aggrevated TMJ.

best dentist costa mesa - emergency dentist costa mesa - cosmetic dentist costa mesa - dental implants costa mesa - dentist near me - dentist open now - saturday dentist - ppo dentist - delta dental - teeth whitening - dental veneers - laser dentistry - invisalignSmile Smart Tip # 3

Our third tip is to choose healthy food and drinks to feel your best and keep your teeth strong and healthy.  Avoid drinks with color additives, sugar, carbonation, or acid to protect against decay and erosion.  Choose foods with calcium, minerals like cheese, yogurt, almonds, leafy greens, and carrots.

Smile Smart Tip # 4

Our fourth tip is to protect your smile during school sports.  An injury can cause broken teeth, dead teeth, and even permanent tooth loss.  Consider a custom athletic mouthguard for school sports in your school colors!

Smile Smart Tip # 5

Brush and floss for at least 2 minutes twice a day to maintain good oral hygiene between dental visits.  Choose a soft bristled toothbrush making circular motions at a 45 degree angle and waxed floss or flosser picks to get the areas in between teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach.

Oral Cancer

April 13, 2018

Oral Cancer Facts

The Oral Cancer Foundation estimates approximately 132 patients are diagnosed with an oral cancer EVERY DAY!  That means over 51,550 people will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year.  Early detection of neck, mouth, and throat cancers is critical to identify the appropriate treatment and reach the best outcomes.

The main causes of oral cancer are alcohol and tobacco use and human papilloma virus (HPV), specifically strain HPV16. You can reduce your risk of getting oral cancer by avoiding excessive alcohol intake, avoiding tobacco products (cigarettes, cigars, vaping, chew, snuff, pipes, dip, etc.) completely, and by reducing direct skin/mouth contact with another person with HPV.

Survival Rates

Oral cancer has lower survival rates than cervical cancer, thyroid cancer, and Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  Survival rates have not increased in over a decade.  When detected in early stages, there is a 70-80% survival rate.  However, when detected in later stages, the survival rate is less than 50% after 5 years.  Most oral and neck cancers are not detected in the early stages, because of lack of patient awareness and the overall difficulty of detecting these types of cancers.  This is why it is critical to visit your dentist every 3-6 months for your professional exam or any time you detect something unusual.

Oral Cancer Self Exam

The Oral Cancer Foundation has put together this instructional video so you can perform your own at-home exam between dental visits or if you notice something unusual.

Schedule your free oral cancer screening with Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson today!  Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is here to answer any questions 24/7.  You can reach our Costa Mesa dental office by phone at (714) 424-9099 or book online anytime at www.mycostamesadentist.com.
